Robert Gober

Robert Gober (b. 1954) is an American artist known for his haunting sculptural works that transform familiar domestic objects into psychologically charged explorations of identity, memory, and the body. From the late 1980s onward, Gober expanded his practice into large-scale installations that incorporated sculpture, drawing, photography, printmaking, and architecture. He represented the United States at the Venice Biennale in 2001, and his work has been the subject of major solo exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; the Hirshhorn Museum and Scupture Garden, Washington, D.C.; the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; and Fondazione Prada, Milan, among others. He is represented by Matthew Marks Gallery.
