Rita Ackermann (b. 1968) is a Hungarian-American artist living and working in New York. Frequently featuring nymph-like women and hints of fairy tales, her paintings examine adolescent ennui through a personal language of lush and gestural mark-making. Her multidisciplinary practice includes painting, drawing, printmaking, and collaborations across fashion, design, and popular culture. Ackermann moved to New York to study at the New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture. Her work has been exhibited extensively in the United States, Europe, and Japan.
Recent exhibitions include The Chemical Alphabet at Hauser & Wirth, New York (2026), Doubles at Hauser & Wirth, Paris (2025), and Splits at Hauser & Wirth, New York (2024). Her work has also been presented in recent exhibitions at the Speed Art Museum, Galerie Max Hetzler, and Andrew Kreps Gallery. Ackermann is represented by Hauser & Wirth.
