Bob Nickas (b. 1957) is a writer and curator based in New York. He has organized more than 120 exhibitions since 1984 and served as Curatorial advisor at P.S.1/MoMA from 2004 to 2007. During his time there, he organized exhibitions devoted to Lee Lozano, Stephen Shore, and Wolfgang Tillmans, among others. He has also contributed to the Venice Biennale, Biennale de Lyon, and Documenta. Nickas was the founding editor of Index magazine, which he edited from 1996 to 2000. His writing has appeared extensively in artist monographs and publications, and he is the author of several books including Theft Is Vision, The Dept. of Corrections, and Komplaint Dept.
American Art Catalogues published 1969 (redux) in 2020, a facsimile of the catalog Nickas originally produced for his 1991 exhibition 1969 at Daniel Newburgh Gallery in New York. The publication includes a new essay by Nickas as well as additional visual material from his original archive.
